Dear Parents and Students, 
 
On behalf of the Solvang School District, welcome to the 2011-12 school year! This year promises to be an exciting, productive educational experience for each and every one of our students. 
 
It is the desire of the entire staff and school board to provide your children with an excellent education. Solvang's reputation of academic achievement is strong.  Quality teachers, aides and supportive parents have enabled our school to reach high levels of academic achievement.  Academic's notwithstanding, the fine arts, music, art and drama as well as physical education are valued at Solvang School. 
 
Our Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) and the Solvang School Educational Foundation (SSEF) are vital support organizations.  They fund our fine arts program as well as other vital school programs, such as technology. Please view their links on this Web page and consider joining, your participation will ensure continued success. 
 
We are thrilled with  the addition of our seven new classrooms and Cafeteria. These facilities will benefit our children for years to come. Our Bond money has been spent very wisely and we will have resources left for limited renovation on the rest of the school which 
will begin as soon as possible. 
 
Please read the Student Handbook when it arrives. It outlines our policies and procedures regarding a number of important issues, such as student conduct and safety.  We also encourage you to attend our regularly scheduled School Board meetings and become involved with the operation of the Solvang School District. 
 
Again, welcome to the 2011-12 school year.  An administrator is on campus daily, please feel welcome to introduce yourself if you are new.  We have an "open door" policy, never too busy to address concerns, comments or questions regarding your student's education.
