Board of Trustees - Notice of Vacancy

Solvang Elementary School District Board of Trustees will be making a provisional appointment to the Board to fill a vacancy created by a resignation.  The appointment will fill a vacancy with a term ending in December of 2018.


Persons interested in candidacy for the provisional appointment must submit their written application to the District Office no later than 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 1, 2017.


Written applications will be reviewed by committee to determine eligibility.  Eligible candidates will be interviewed in open session at 6:00 p.m. on August 8, 2017.


The Board will accept oral or written input from the public at the August 8, 2017 meeting.  The provisional appointment will be selected with a majority vote of the Board.

S.A.M. Annual Appeal $5,767 and Counting!

THANK YOU to those of you who have already donated to SAM this year. So far, donations have totaled $5,767 towards the goal of $9,000. The annual appeal has ended but SAM will gratefully continue to accept donations of any size now or any time during the year. 100% of your tax deductible donation enhances your student's education. New English Language Arts Materials for Public Review

The Solvang School District will purchase updated English Language Arts materials for next year.  To review in greater depth, teachers chose McGraw Hill's Wonders program for grades K-5 and Houghton Mifflin Harcourts' Collections program for grades 6-8.  If you would like to see the materials, please stop by the lower-campus front office between 8:45 and 3:30 p.m., May 2-10.
